Planning Commissioners,
As an avid and experienced cyclist and Board member of the San Luis Obispo Bicycle Club, I would like to express my
support for further vetting, both by the public and by City staff, of the various diversion and traffic calming
configurations currently being considered. I have been in contact with many of the residents of the Anholm
neighborhood and am convinced that a solution that can be embraced by both the residents and the bicycling
community is attainable. The safety of pedestrians and cyclists in our City does not solely depend on technically sound
facilities, but also on mutual respect between cyclists, motorists, and the residents of the neighborhoods that we travel
through. With further public participation in the planning process, we can not only have a better project, but can boost
mutual respect and understanding among all parties.
