RE: SB 214 (Wolk) Infrastructure Finance Districts
Request for Signature
Dear Governor Brown,
The City of San Luis Obispo respectfully requests your signature on SB 214
This measure accomplishes a long -needed rewrite of existing Infrastructure Financing Districts Law,
which will enable this law to become a helpful tool for assisting with the financing with a wide variety
of local infrastructure.
While this tool has its limitations, it provides an additional option for funding our local infrastructure
needs. This City has needs in a bridge that needs repair, and buckled and cracked sidewalks that create
the risk of liability.
California cities face many challenges in financing new and upgrading existing infrastructure to meet the
needs of our growing population and support a prosperous economy. Neither the state nor the federal
government has the resources to address these needs. Thus, local agencies need more options to address
these problems locally. Investing in these projects will also create needed construction jobs.
For these reasons, the City of San Luis Obispo respectfully requests your signature on SB 214.
Sincerely,
J Marx
Mayor
