Subject: REQUEST FOR PUBLIC INFORMATION
Good morning,
I am with SBA Communications and we build and develop wireless communication towers throughout the world. In
considering some potential new locations for new towers, I am doing some upfront research to make sure that we
would not interfere with any existing towers or towers in the process of being approved; and that there are no new
applications pending that might interfere with emergency services we would collocate on any towers we might propose
within a 1 mile radius.
With that said, could you please confirm if there has been any activity or applications submitted for new towers that
have been built or are in the process of being applied for or being built within the jurisdiction of the City of San Luis
Obispo., from 3/1/18 thru 11/10/18. This request is for NEW TOWERS only, not existing towers needing repairs or
modifications.
It is my understanding that a Conditional Use Permit would be required for a new cell tower. Can you please confirm?
Is a building permit also required in addition to the Conditional Use Permit?
Would a public hearing and notice be required for the approval of the Conditional Use Permit?
Is there a requirement that a new tower be constructed a certain distance away from any existing tower?
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
