Please see below: 1. Our current record retention policy regarding peace officer disciplinary files is to keep the records 5 years after the case/investigation is closed. 2. Our agency’s record retention policy for these disciplinary files has not changed since July 1, 2018. 3. Our agency has not destroyed, deleted or discarded any disciplinary records relating to officer-involved shooting, use-of-force incidents, or sustained findings of peace officer dishonesty since July 1, 2018. What is your agency’s current record retention policy regarding peace officer disciplinary files? 2. Has your agency’s record retention policy for those disciplinary files changed since July 1, 2018? If so: a. What was your previous policy? b. What was the date of the change and the reason for the change? 3. Since July 1, 2018, has your agency destroyed, deleted or discarded any disciplinary records relating to officer-involved shootings, use-of-force incidents, sustained findings of sexual assault by a peace officer, or sustained findings of peace officer dishonesty (perjury, false statements, filing false reports, destruction, falsifying, or concealing of evidence)? If so: a. How many records were destroyed and from what time period? b. What type of records were destroyed? (paper, electronic, video, audio, photographs, etc.) c. Would those records have been retained under the previous policy? d. Did any of the records pertain to current employees, and if so, how many?
