Regular Meeting of the Active Transportation Committee
CALL TO ORDER
A Regular Meeting of the San Luis Obispo Active Transportation Committee was called to order
on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Hearing Room, located at 990 Palm
Street, San Luis Obispo, California, by Chair Brooks.
ROLL CALL
Present: Committee Members Jenna Espinosa (Departed at 7:50 p.m.), Timothy Jouet, Briana
Martenies, Paul Orton, Jonathan Roberts, Vice Chair Ken Kienow, and Chair Leah
Brooks
Absent: None
Staff: Active Transportation Manager Adam Fukushima, and Recording Secretary Lareina
Gamboa

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
1. Review Minutes of the Active Transportation Committee Meeting of September 20, 2018:
ACTION: UPON MOTION BY COMMITTEE MEMBER JOUET, SECONDED BY
COMMITTEE MEMBER KIENOW, CARRIED 7-0-0, to approve the Minutes of the Active
Transportation Committee Meeting of September 20, 2018, as presented.
BUSINESS ITEMS
1. Select Preferred Alternative for Bob Jones Trail: Oceanaire to Calle Joaquin
Connector Trail
Active Transportation Manager Fukushima provided a PowerPoint presentation and
responded to Committee inquiries.

ACTION: UPON MOTION BY COMMITTEE MEMBER ESPINOSA, SECONDED BY
COMMITTEE MEMBER ORTON, CARRIED 5-2-0 (noes: Kienow, Roberts), to
recommend to City Council Alternative 1 for its more positive interaction with the
agricultural operations and lower cost.
ACTION: UPON MOTION BY COMMITTEE MEMBER KIENOW, SECONDED BY
COMMITTEE MEMBER JOUET, CARRIED 7-0-0, to recommend to City Council to
consider other alternatives of the project that are likely to increase bicycle transportation
mode share while remaining eligible for developer mitigation funds since the existing
alternatives are more likely to increase bicycling for recreation than transportation.
--At this time the Committee voted for a five-minute break.--

Active Transportation Manager Fukushima provided a PowerPoint presentation and
responded to Committee inquiries.

Active Transportation Manager Fukushima provided project updates and an agenda forecast.

meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 6:00 p.m., in the Council Hearing Room,
