HomeMy WebLinkAboutPRR19020 regarding Fire DispatchExcerpt from Communications Technician Training Manual, Section 4, page 10: In all cases, the closest company should be dispatched to an emergency in progress. Know and be aware of engine company locations. With the exception of AOA calls, Quickest Route will dispatch the closest company, using AVL to determine who is closest. If AVL or Quickest Route is not functioning and a mobile engine is closer than the company given the dispatch, the Captain will advise dispatch that his engine will handle the call. Excerpt from Call Guide Fire Calls – Dispatch Procedure o For AOA calls outside the city: • Quickest Route/Recommend Unit does not work for AOAF calls. • Type DC short term call # and the units you need to send. • Always include the BC. • Ex. DC short them call # T2, BC. • For Wildland Fires, dispatch the engine where Engine 6 is housed (usually station 4) and advise on the top line Engine 6 Wildland Fire and any other necessary information. • If Cal Fire requests a truck, send T1. If T1 is not available, call Cal Fire to inform them and see if they want an T2 if is available or an engine. For all other calls, send the closest unit. Excerpt from Memo dated 6/17/15 Providing Instructions on Quickest Route prior to its implementation on 7/6/15. To dispatch them on a call the system is now going to tell you who the closest unit is and the pop up window will give you drive times: Example: DC 3f (dc space short term call number) Tap accept and it will dispatch the checked unit. You can change the unit if you don’t agree. If you have a multi-unit response the system groups by type. Example for 1st alarm: CDF will be checked first – tap accept T1,2,3,4 will all be checked grouped together - tap accept BC1 will be checked – tap accept In the event our response specifically requests a move up company I’ve place that engine after you accept the BC as an indicator that it is not one of the grouped engines. For FZ3C and FZ4C areas it will give a pop up window with CDF checked first. Check the drive time and if CDF’s drive time is shorter than the other engines tap accept and then accept the next engine. If CDF’s drive time is not faster, uncheck and accept and then the next pop up selection will give you the correct engine to dispatch. This is a change in our AOA response.
