We understand you are seeking any records that show: - What medical benefits has the Mayor elected to receive? - If she elected not to receive medical benefits, is she receiving a cash option? Records containing this information (medical benefits elections) are exempt from production under Gov. Code 6254(c) and will be withheld as such. However, Mayor Harmon has authorized our office to share: Yes, she has elected to participate in the insurance plans offered to her as an official of the City of San Luis Obispo including vision insurance. Section 2.2 on page 16 of the City Council Policies and Procedures Manual outlines the insurances available to the Mayor and Council Members, and the City’s contribution towards that insurance: 2.2 RETIREMENT, MEDICAL, DENTAL, VISION AND LIFE INSURANCE The Mayor and Council Members shall be entitled to City-funded participation in P.E.R.S. retirement. The City shall contribute an amount equivalent to that received by City department heads monthly towards the Mayor and Council Members participation in PEMCHA, dental, vision and life insurance. Any unexpended amount shall not be distributed to the Mayor and Council Members in cash. If the Mayor and Council Members elect to opt out of medical, dental and vision that individual member will receive the opt out amount equal to City department heads. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Unless you indicate otherwise, with this response the City will consider your request closed.
