PleaseallowmetorepeatherethatmyrecentexperiencewiththeexaminationoftheTree Committee’spurviewdiscussionandsettingwasarewardingexperiencewithapplicationsforallcitycommittees. I thoughttheTreeCommitteemembers, citystaff, thecityattorney, andthepublicdidarespectable jobcraftingthenew TreeOrdinancewithinputfromallinvolved. Mytwosignificanttakeaways arethese: aflowchartgraphicwaspresented andIhopewillbeincludedintheordinancedocumentation) duringtheTreeOrdinance’sdiscussion that, withthe agreedmodifications, willmoreclearlyguidethecity’sarboristandtheTreeCommittee intheirdutiesandscopes, and thepointsofinclusionofthesetwowillbemuchearlierinthemajor developmentprocess (beforeentitlement, whichI taketobetheearlypointwhereanapplicanthasnotyetdrawn-upplans), allowingamorecomprehensive collaboration notsofraughtwithcontradicting, postplanningchangesandconflicts. ItisthisexercisethatIwishfortheActive TransportationCommittee andcitystafftoengagein. IismydesirethattheATCandcitystaffsimilarlyworktogetherto creategoodandclearprocedures thatwillallowthebestplanningtooccurformajorandminordevelopments inour citywiththebigoverviewattheforefrontofthesedevelopment preplanningdiscussions.
