To the San Luis Obispo Tree Committee-
We are writing in support of Dorothy Fountain’s request to have two Pine trees removed from her property. We are next door neighbors, living
adjacent to her property at 1662 Knoll Dr. There are several reasons we support Dorothy’s request to have these trees removed. The first Pine
in question is the one on the corner of Flora St. and Knoll Dr. As this tree continues to grow its roots uplift the walkway adjacent to Dorothy’s
house and has become a safety issue. Dorothy has attempted to have this corrected several times by having roots cut out, but over the years
they return and continue to uplift her walkway. I have stumbled in this area several times and I know that Dorothy and her husband have also
tripped and stumbled in this area.
The second Pine in question is the one located up Knoll Drive and quite close to the sidewalk. This tree is very large and creates a very dense
crown that is impeding on a number of other trees adjacent to it. Several of our trees, adjacent to this pine, have been thinned out to allow for
healthier growth but the size of this particular Pine is now impeding the health of some of the other trees. Removal would open up a very dense
foliage area allowing for healthier prospects for other trees.
