SB 1262 with its public safety, local control and health -based approach,
represents a welcome change.
As a municipal government, we are on the front lines on this issue along with our local
police department, and have to cope with the effects of the current chaotic regulatory structure
for medical marijuana. We applaud your effort to put a responsible regulatory structure in place
that protects patient access while protecting local control and addressing public safety issues.
We appreciate the incorporation of health and safety standards into the bill, and stand
ready to work with officials who will enforce these standards to ensure smooth implementation
should SB 1262 become law. Thank you for your leadership on this issue.
Sincerely,
,Y J
, VI4 or Jan Marx
Cc: City Council
Katie Lichtig, City Manager
Steve Gesell, Police Chief
Senator Bill Monning, fax 916-445-8081
Tim Cromartie, League of CA Cities, tcromartie,
David Mullinax, League of CA Cities Regional Representative
Senate Public Safety Committee, fax 916-445-4688
